Barasat: Two policemen sustained injuries and a few vehicles got damaged when a clash broke out between the supporters of the ruling TMC and CPI-M in the 24 Parganas (North) district of the West Bengal. A bomb was also hurled at the vehicle of visiting election commission observer UK Sengupta, but he had narrow escape in the incident.
According to the police, the clash, which happened ahead of the third phase of the Panchayat polls, took place at Borgachia under Amdanga police station of the district.

When Amdanga police station officer-in-charge Samsher Ali reached the spot, the supporters of the two rival parties indulged in stone pelting. Ali, along with a police constable, was hurt in the incident while a police vehicle was damaged.
Senior police officials, who rushed to the spot to control the situation, arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in the clash.
