Shimla: Union Minister of Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises Virbhadra Singh exhorted the party members to tide over narrow mindedness and work for the organization, while addressing a meeting of the district Congress Committee Shimla (rural) at Rajeev Bhawan here on Sunday.

Singh said, “If the high command calls me back, I can return to the party, but right now, I have no such aspirations. I do not have any plans to become the Chief Minister; it is all upto the high command. I am ready to fulfill any responsibility handed over by the party for the benefit of the state and the organization.”

Stressing on a combined effort to clinch victory in the Municipal Corporation polls, he raised objection on the suspension of party workers found to be shouting slogans in the support of the party leaders. He added that such a tradition will harm the reputation of the party.

Cautioning against reckless distribution of tickets in the polls of only Municipal Corporation of the state at Shimla and upcoming assembly elections, he said, “Only efficient and qualified candidates should be fielded to ensure victory. Congress has ruled the Municipal bodies till now and the trend must continue.”

He added that the legislators need to be enlightened to play the role of an active opposition in the state, while emphasizing upon strengthening the party to come back to power in the state. He also asked the party workers to start preparations for the upcoming elections.
