Shimla: The Congress high command entrusted former Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh with the task of quelling the political bickering arising out of appointing Tehri MP Vijay Bahuguna as the Uttarakhand Chief Minister.

Singh left for Uttarakhand to take stock of the present situation and interact with the MLAs loyal to Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Harish Rawat.

Singh is likely to woo the disgruntled MLAs to support Bahuguna and strengthen the party organization. The political observers say that the reason behind deputying Singh to Uttarakhand is to appease Rajput MLAs.

It is worth mentioning that Congress is facing internal bickering within the party over the issue of chief ministership. On the intervention of party high command, Bahuguna was sworn-in as the CM, but infighting within the party still continues.
