“Jamia Nagar a hot bed of ‘Nationalist Movement’ during freedom struggle is termed as ‘terror hub’ by BJP, indicating typical Modi mindset,” Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed wrote on twitter.

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh had earlier demanded that a criminal case be registered against Malhotra for his comment in this context.

“To call any particular community as terrorists is unethical. A criminal case should be filed against Malhotra,” he said.

Responding to a poser on the arrest of suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists in Rajasthan, Malhotra had on Tuesday said, “The police are not able to go for search operation in areas like Jamia Nagar, which are the center of terrorists.”

The Congress has also demanded an apology from the BJP leader.

AAP raises issue with Election Commission

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has written letter to the Election Commission of India against Malhotra’s inflammatory remark.

The AAP in its complaint alleged that Malhotra’s remark is a violation of the model code of conduct and such statement has been made with an aim of projecting a particular community in a bad light.
