New Delhi: Toeing the lines of Delhi Metro, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is planning to bring voice announcement system in the DTC buses which will inform the commuters about approaching bus stops and their following routes.

The installation of the ‘display and announcement system’ will ensure a hassle free travel for local and international commuters on the buses.

Through this system, the passengers will be informed about the next bus stops and areas close by. Apart from the announcements, a display board will also flash the name of the bus stop to help hearing impaired people.

Till now, passengers had to struggle to find out next stops as the drivers as well as the conductors were not co-operating enough.

Not only this, all bus stops in Delhi will have Passenger Information System (PIS) which will inform the commuters about the timings and routes of the approaching buses.

Presently, this system is installed at bus stops of the BRT corridor. Initially, PIS will be put at prime locations in Delhi and subsequently they will be installed at all the stops.

A project has also been made on Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM) which will generate tickets. This will start on pilot basis by March end.

Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System, which looks after these projects, is in the final phase of its completion and is expected to be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on March 31.
