The 6-speed automatic transmission is coupled with a new 1.6GTDi motor which makes 179PS powers the V40 petrol and drives 16kmpl.

A compact hatch with rugged design cues and increased height. With a raised suspension, 19” wheels, protective trim, and large ergonomic front seats, the V40 Cross Country was made to do just that—go cross-country.

The V40 Cross Country keeps you comfortably in control, with features like hill-descent control, which uses the braking system to control each wheel’s rotating speed on rough, slippery downhill roads.

Volvo is also planning to launch the Volvo XC90 SUV in India in second half of this year. Not only this, the limelight has shifted to the company's all-new hatchback Volvo V40, V40 Cross Country's affordable variant which was launched in June 2013 in India.

Volvo V40 hatchback's design and platform is akin to Volvo V40 Cross Country, variations can be observed on the exterior front. The hatchback variants does not get the same aggressive and fierce look, emboldened with sump guards, roof rails, side body cladding and larger alloy wheels.

Absence of sump guards on the hatchback's rear surface, the front is equipped with  newly designed horizontal day-time running lights. On the innards, it gets split rear seats, an added advantage is that they can be folded.
