Initially, the Volvo V40 hatchback will be launched  in the front wheel drive version which is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that can give out a maximum power output of 152PS and a peak torque of 360Nm with ARAI certified fuel-economy of 16.8kmpl.

The hatchback variants does not get the same aggressive and fierce look, emboldened with sump guards, roof rails, side body cladding and larger alloy wheels.

Absence of sump guards on the hatchback's rear surface, the front is equipped with  newly designed horizontal day-time running lights. On the innards, it gets split rear seats, an added advantage is that they can be folded.
