New Delhi: The Parliament Street police station located in the high-security zone in the capital appears to have begun the New Year on a wrong note with a theft reported from just outside its premises.

The first FIR in the police station which looks after law and order in the VVIP area covering Parliament is among the three cases registered in the seven stations in New Delhi district.

Two cases of theft and an accident were reported from police stations at Connaught Place, Parliament Street and Barakhamba on January one. The other police stations did not open their account on the New Year day.

The case at Parliament Street police station was registered after G P Singh approached police on the evening of January one claiming that a stereo, engine control module (ECM) and woofer have been stolen from his car.

Singh claimed he parked the car opposite the police station near SBI Bank and when he returned from Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, he saw that someone had broken into the vehicle. A case of theft was registered.

Another theft was registered at Connaught Place while an accident case was reported in Barakhamba police station on the same day.
