Mumbai: India discard Wasim Jaffer was on Monday retained captain of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad for the 2011-12 season by the senior selection panel of MCA, headed by Milind Rege.

"Jaffer has been named the captain for the season," informed Mumbai Cricket Association's joint secretary and selection meeting convenor Nitin Dalal.

Jaffer's performance as the 39-time national champions' skipper in the previous season had come under scanner following the team's exit at the quarterfinal stage of the competition.

The Mumbai selectors also named Mumbai's 45-member probables for the season.

The list of Mumbai probables includes Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan who have played only sporadiclly for the team in recent years.
