Kolkata: Both the ruling and the opposition party showed their strength in Bhawanipore and North Bashirhat Assembly seats as campaigning for the by-polls in the two constituencies came to an end on Friday. Voting would take place on Sunday.

TMC leader Subrat Bakshi led a road show in Bhawanipore in support of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The road show included actor and MP Tapas Pal and actress-turned-MP Shatabdi Rai and many other Trinamool Congress leaders.

In the morning, a rally was organized in support of CPM candidate Nandini Mukherjee which included CPM chairman Viman Bose, Mohammad Salim and Rabin Dev among others.

In North Bashirhat Assembly seat, a foot march was taken out by Pandit Shambu Nath that covered several areas. The march was attended by Public Health Minister Subrata Mukherjee, Minister for Public Works and Transport Subrat Bakshi, sports minister Madan Mitra along with other MLAs.

Notably, Mamata Banerjee on Thursday had campaigned in Bhawanipore. Amid tight security, Banerjee mingled with general public and acknowledged the support of public.
