Chennai, Jan 17 (Agencies): India's cricket selectors chose a 15-member squad for the World Cup starting Feb 19 in the sub-continent on Monday.

Squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain/wicketkeeper), Virender Sehwag (vice captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Piyush Chawla.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar's hamstring injury about four weeks ahead of the World Cup is indeed a cause of concern, but given the time in hand, the selection committee meeting on Monday to pick the World Cup squad would be hoping the maestro would be fit for the tournament commencing in the sub-continent on February 19.

The top-seven of the Indian batting order -- Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni -- are in the team as expected and Yusuf Pathan will take the all-rounder's berth.

Rohit Sharma missed out in the 15-strong squad for the ICC World Cup 2011, which begins from February 19.

The inspirational Zaheer Khan will lead the pace attack and his companions will be the trio of Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel and Praveen Kumar. S Sreesanth and Ishant Sharma failed to make the cut as well.

Harbhajan Singh will spearhead the slow bowling department with Piyush Chawla and R Ashwin as his spin partner. Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha were also vying for the slot.

Selection Committee chariman K Srikkanth, Surendra Bhave and Narendra Hirwani were present at the meeting, while rest of the selectors and skipper MS Dhoni joined them on video conferencing from South Africa.

Just a day before the selection meeting, doubts had arisen over Sachin Tendulkar's availability after he pulled out of the remainder of the ODI series in South Africa as a precautionary measure after sustaining a hamstring injury during Saturday's second match.

But going by indications, the injury is not serious and Tendulkar will be making his sixth World Cup appearance.
