Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday asked the district health authorities, hospitals and medical college directors to provide better medical service within the available sources as it is difficult to enhance development due to financial pressure.

Banerjee said, “We can improve the situation by increasing the coordination and fully exploiting the available resources,”

“We do not have money to pay salaries. I am trying to make arrangements for that now which will take six to eight months to settle,” Banerjee added.

Targeting the previous regime, Mamata said, “What has the previous government done in the last 35 years? The health services have been neglected in the state in this long period.”

Banerjee also stressed on improving cleanliness in hospitals and health centres.

In order to improve health service in the state, the CM announced the formation of a three-tier plan. The first stage will be to improve health services within available limited resources. The second and third levels will be related with the formation of short-term and long-term planning and its implementation.
