Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced a festival bonanza for the government employees and pensioners by increasing their ad-hoc bonuses.
Making a statement in the West Bengal Assembly, state Finance Minister Amit Mitra said that the state government has decided to provide financial assistance to people that would add extra burden of Rs 800 crore on the state exchequer.
Ahead of festivals like Eid and Durga Puja, Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has decided to give an amount of Rs 2100 as ad-hoc bonus to the employee with monthly income of Rs 20,000.
“Employee will be given 50 percent payment of the third installment of the salary under the sixth pay commission before the festivals,” Mitra said.
He also said that employees drawing monthly salary of Rs 28,000 would be eligible for interest-free festival advance of Rs 2,000.
Pensioners will get ex-gratia amount of Rs 800.
