Kolkata: Showing their displeasure over the Jharkhand government’s act of releasing water from the Chandil Dam over Subarnarekha River without any prior information, the West Bengal government has decided to appraise the Centre of this issue.

State Irrigation Minister Manas Bhuiyan said, “I will write a letter to my counterpart in Jharkhand and also inform Union Water Resources Minister PK Bansal in the Centre about the matter.”

Notably, due to the release of water from the Chandil Dam in Jharkhand, a flood like situation has arisen in West and East Midnapore.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her unhappiness to the Jharkhand government through Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh.
