Jhargram: On a tip off form the villagers, the security forces recovered 8 casing used for making directional landmines from a pond in the Maoist affected Jhargram police station area of West Midnapore District on Monday. Later, the explosive was handed over to the state police.

Confirming the report, Jhargram Station House Officer Sumit Kumar said, “The explosive has been recovered from a pond at Barodidiha village in Aaguibni Circle of Jhargram PS.”

The locals informed the security forces about some explosive hidden near the forest, Kumar added.

Acting on the information, the security forces recovered 8 casing looking like an iron pipe from the pond.

Maoists had reportedly plotted to trigger a blast in the area.
