New Delhi: Eyeing to revamp the industrial sector and set the economy ringing, the West Bengal government has invited entrepreneurs to re-open shut down factories in the state.

The government has clearly stated that the land allotted for industries and factories will strictly be used for that purpose.

Replying to a question in the Assembly on Thursday, state Minister for Commerce and Industries, Partha Chatterjee said, “There is a need to strike a balance between industry and agriculture for better development of the state.”

Targeting the Left Front, Chatterjee said, “The previous ruling government in the state had made promises regarding the future of agriculture and industry, but it was all confined to speeches and has not been worked out.

“The government will prepare ‘land banks’.  It will also try and get back the talented people of Bengal who are lending their invaluable services to other states,” Chatterjee added.
