The update also has an improved design for cropping pictures and videos and location sharing via Apple Maps. The users can reduce their data usage when WhatsApp is used for making calls in settings > chats and calls.

When the users scroll through their chats, old messages will load automatically. The users can customize notifications for individual chats and mute the noisier ones.

The users can mark chats as read or unread by swiping to the right. The users can also share contacts from the Contacts app and share locations in Apple Maps directly to people in WhatsApp. When they are sharing a location, it will appear as a large thumbnail.

Earlier, WhatsApp had released an update with a few new features for Android which allows the users to mark conversations as unread by tapping and holding the conversation.

It adds a green circle to their selected chat to serve as a reminder for the users but it will not affect the read status on messages within each conversation.

Also, the users are now allowed to set custom notifications for contacts and groups. The users can configure specific tones for calls, messages and popup notification of any contact.

In addition, there is an option to use less data for voice calls which the users can find in the 'Chats and calls' settings.
