The feature has already been introduced for iOS and Android earlier this year and now Windows Phone users can finally benefit from it. WhatsApp has more than 800 million active users.

VoIP (Voice over IP) feature of WhatsApp is now available on the three platforms. WhatsApp can focus on updating and improving the overall calling feature to make it compete with Skype and Viber.

WhatsApp Inc., based in Mountain View, California, was acquired by Facebook on February 19, 2014, for approx. US$22 billion.

Just three days after announcing that WhatsApp had been purchased by Facebook, the company announced they were working to introduce voice calls in the coming months.
