Chandigarh: Procurement of wheat by various agencies in Haryana touched an all-time high of more than 85.28 lakh tonnes in ongoing procurement season.

Last season, 69.28 lakh tonnes of wheat was procured by various agencies. While stating this here on Monday, a spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies Department said over 85.29 lakh tonnes of wheat had arrived in mandis of the state till on Sunday, out of which only 483 tonnes of wheat had been purchased by the traders.

The wheat procurement in the state is still on and major portion of it is being procured by six government agencies, he added.
