Playing for his franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the third season of IPL, Hayden used Mongoose bat, specially designed for the shortest format of the game. The former Australia opener smashed, 93 off 43 balls, hitting nine fours and seven sixes.

Later, Hayden's teammate in CSK, left-hander Suresh Raina had also used the Mongoose bat in the 2010 edition of IPL.

The bat had a 5 cm thick base, a handle 43 percent longer and a blade 33 percent shorter. It had no splice and the sweet spot was enhanced by a whopping 120 percent, making it ideal for Twenty20, but not for long.

On that time, cricket lovers and experts was of the view that the long handle-short blade, which was meant only for attack, will revolutionise the game.

However, after making sensational debut the bat was vanished from the cricketing scene.
