The stat that perhaps best explain Rahul Dravid's effort as a Test batsman is not the runs he scored or the centuries he smashed, but the number of balls he faced during his career of 164 Tests. Dravid played 31,258 balls in 286 Test innings and no other batsman has faced more than 29,500 deliveries.

You can now imagine the amount of hardwork he did to score 13,288 runs. Sachin Tendulkar on the other hand faced 29,437 deliveries during his career of 200 Test (329 innings).

Dravid played an average of 109 balls per innings while Sachin faced an average of 89 deliveries per innings.
