Why oppose transfer of Aarushi case: SC

New Delhi:  The Supreme Court has given two days time to CBI for filing its reply against objecting Rajesh and Nupur Talwar’s plea for the transfer of Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case from Ghaziabad to Delhi.

The Court while seeking an explanation from the CBI wondered why the Investigative agency is not willing to transfer the case when most of the witnesses were in Delhi.

The Talwar couple has sought transfer of the case citing safety concerns. In January last year, a person had attacked Rajesh Talwar with a cleaver.

The Additional Solicitor General Harin Raval arguing on behalf of the CBI dismissed Talwars’ plea on Tuesday claiming that there was “some hidden motive” behind their plea.

He added that there is no provision of anticipatory bail in Uttar Pradesh and the couple fears of being arrested. Responding to CBI’s arguments, the SC has asked the investigative body to file an affidavit in its reply by Monday.

The matter is posted for a hearing on February 27.
