New Delhi: The Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal launched the wi-fi facility in New Delhi-Howrah (12302) Rajdhani Express at Delhi station on Tuesday.

"Many passengers feel the need to access internet while travelling," an official said. Passenger will be given login and password for the duration of the journey based on the ticket details. Railway sources said this service would act as a pilot and is proposed to be introduced in Shatabdi and Duronto trains as well.

Later, the facility will be extended to other important trains too depending on the success of the plan.  The New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express has become the country’s first Wi-Fi-enabled train to offer connectivity to passengers free of cost.

‘Techno Set Com’ has been entrusted with the task of installing wi-fi technology in the trains, informed the sources in the railways.

The railway officials said that the business class people and students will get more benefit from the wi-fi facility. However, the scheme got delayed due to security reasons, accepted the railway officials.
