Kejriwal, who began AAP’s campaign in Varanasi after taking a dip in holy River Ganges, had to face the anger of opposition workers as black ink was thrown at him and his supporters during the party’s roadshow in Varanasi.

Scores of persons gathered at the banks of Ganga while the former Delhi chief minister sought blessings ahead of the referendum on his candidature.  Keeping with the city’s high regard for Lord Shiva, AAP members kept on chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’ slogans.

Earlier, eggs were thrown at Kejriwal’s convoy outside the Kashi Vishwanath Temple here. The incident took place when Kejriwal was exiting the temple after performing prayers ahead of his rally. However, the police personnel deployed on duty denied that any such incident took place.

While Kejriwal was inside the Kashi Vishwanath temple performing 'abhishek' along with his family and fellow party leaders Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia, supporters of Narendra Modi raised slogans in support of the Gujarat Chief Minister. AAP supporters also raised pro-Kejriwal slogans.

The AAP chief, who arrived by train in Varanasi this morning, is asking the people whether he should take on Modi from Varanasi.
Kejriwal, who shocked the Congress by unseating it from power in Delhi after 17 years, has said he is willing to contest against Modi. The former Delhi chief minister has, however, made it clear that he would file his nomination papers only after seeking the opinion of people of Varanasi.

Kejriwal, who has never contested a national election, has so far not been able to make an impression amongst the people of this holy city.
To woo people of Varanasi, several AAP workers are camping in the city for the last few days but they have failed to rise up to the expectations in this politically charged atmosphere. So far, the BJP has been successful in curbing AAP’s growing popularity here.

Kejriwal, who has so far no left no stone unturned in provoking the BJP, is repeatedly targetting the main opposition party.  As a result, the atmosphere in Varanasi is charged up ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Efforts of the Aam Aadmi Party to create an atmosphere in the party’s favour prior to Kejriwal’s arrival in this holy city has failed to kick-off.

AAP supporters, spotted with broom and Gandhi caps, right from Assi Ghat to Gadowlia Ghat and Dashwamedh Ghat in the city are facing the anger of BJP youth wing workers, who are suppressing their voices with slogans in favour of Modi.

Moreover, AAP is not able to connect with the people as it lacks strong people at the local level here.
