"We will take all necessary steps and action will be taken to maintain law and order situation in the state. Stringent action will be initiated against those who are involved in crimes like attacks on women, atrocities, smuggling and other offences," he said on Monday.
    
Rajappa said that the state government would deal with these issues in a planned manner.

"Number of cases related to atrocities on women, smuggling, goondaism are being reported on a daily basis. We will initiate stringent action against those who commit such crimes," he added.
    
Rajappa said that he would take charge as the Home Minister on June 22.

"I will hold meetings with officials concerned and discuss with them the steps needed to bring down the crime rate in the state," he said.
    
Rajappa further said that there were some financial problems due to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

"But we will take initiatives to develop Andhra Pradesh on all fronts," he added.
