New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Board Class X results will soon be out any moment. The students reeling under nervousness and anxiety will be relieved once they get their percentage on the basis of which they will be able to opt for their desirable stream in Class XI.

However, throwing light on the performance of students last year can give an idea of the progress in the state.

The overall pass percentage in Uttar Pradesh Class X exams was 70.82 percent in 2011, slightly higher than that in 2010 of 70.79 percent. However, the state education seems to be in a slumber as 4,98,218 students were declared passed despite failing in one subject last year. Had the facility not been in place the overall pass percentage would have climbed down to 55.41 percent.

Notably, not coming as a surprise, girls had outperformed boys with a huge margin as the overall pass percentage of girls was 76.92 percent against 66.03 percent of boys.

A total of 32,38,943 candidates appeared in the Class X Board exam last year with 18,15,518 boys and 14,23,425 girls. Out of these, 11,98,837 boys and 10,94,967 girls were declared successful.

Worth noting, a whopping 68,046 candidates failed in all the six subjects last year.
