London: Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have chosen a photo from Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding for his Christmas card this year, officials said.

The photograph shows Prince Charles holding his wife's three-year-old granddaughter, Eliza Lopes, on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to greet the thousands of well-wishers on hand to celebrate William and Kate's wedding on April 29.

Camilla wore an Anna Valentine outfit with Philip Treacy hat, while the Prince of Wales wore the full Royal Navy Number One ceremonial uniform.

It was shot by the Press Association's royal photographer, John Stillwell, who said: "I'm delighted the Prince of Wales has chosen my picture from the thousands he could have picked."

The card will be sent to friends, supporters and charity volunteers, a daily reported.

It has become a tradition for the Prince of Wales to choose a relaxed snap of the couple for his official Christmas cards, although this is the first one to feature another young family member.

Last year, the card carried an image from his private collection of the Prince and the Duchess cross-country skiing at Balmoral, clad in tweed and grinning for the camera. Others have used pictures from Royal Ascot and a ferry journey in Cornwall.

In 2006, they chose a photograph from the wedding of Eliza's mother, Miss Parker Bowles, and in 2005 used a picture from their own wedding in Windsor.
