“To help customers on Windows XP prepare to move to a new PC, we are announcing a free transfer tool that will be available beginning this month,” said Microsoft in a statement.

“We have partnered with Laplink to provide Windows XP users with a free data migration tool called PCmover Express for Windows XP which copies your files and settings from your Windows XP PC to a new device running Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1,” it added.

This tool will copy files, music, videos, email and user profiles and settings from old PC to new device. It will also transfer network and enable Windows XP users to customize exactly what they want to bring over to their new device.

If the users still plan to live with Windows XP, then they seriously need to be concerned over data security issues. Usage of Internet must be avoided. XP users must also ensure that the system is installed with anti-malware programs.

But, it is seriously recommended that XP users should now shift to another operating system.
