Thane: A housewife and her parents have been booked on alleged charges of cheating and getting married for the second time when her first husband was still alive.

According to PSI Shivaji Chavan of Thane Nagar police station, the marriage took place in February 2003 when Dhanlakshmi Sriram Yadav tied the knot with one Sanjay Shankar Yadav at the Thane Marriage Registrars office.

Later it turned out that Dhanalakshmi was already wedded to another person, a fact concealed by the accused and her family at the time of second marriage.

Police said her first husband was still alive when she tied the knot again.

Following a complaint by her second husband Shankar, police have booked four persons Dhanlakshmi S Yadav, Sriram H Yadav, Kamala S Yadav and Shivprasad Mishra under sections 420, 494, 495, 496, 211, 108, 120 (b) rw 34 of the IPC, Chavan said.

Mishra is the middle man who arranged the marriage.

However, no arrest has been made in this connection so far and the offence was registered based on the directions from a Thane court, police said.
