In her views shared with Dainik Jagran, Shabana said that she also sat on dharna during her tenure as Rajya Sabha MP over the issue and during the upcoming general elections; she will make a nationwide appeal over the issue.
Shabana also said that the attempts made by her in the direction of women’s reservation have not gone futile. She said that no political party was interested to have any discussion on this issue initially but now things have changed and they even give assurances of bringing this long-standing demand on surface level.
Shabana hopes that the day is not far when more than 33 percent of women will be seen sitting in state assemblies and Parliament.
One being asked about her support to any particular party, Shabana said that when every outfit is giving proper weightage to her views, she won’t like to do any further ‘experimentation’ on this issue.
Meanwhile, she refused to speak on Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
