Los Angeles: Director Woody Allen's latest European-based drama "To Rome with Love" is all set to have its first North American premiere at the 18th annual Los Angeles Film Festival.

The festival organisers announced that Allen's starry dramedy has been tapped to open the event on June 14, reported Ace Showbiz.

"I can't think of a better way to kick off this year's festival than with the original independent filmmaker himself,Woody Allen. It's a true honor for Los Angeles to host the
North American premiere of 'To Rome with Love'," said Stephanie Allain, festival director.

The 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival will run from June 14 to 24. More than 200 feature films, shorts and music videos from over 30 countries are scheduled to be screened throughout the annual event.

The festival is produced by Film Independent, the same company which also organized the Spirit Awards.

Allen's "To Rome with Love", told in four vignettes, follows the life of some Americans, some Italians, some residents, some visitors - and the romances, adventures as well as predicaments they get into.

The film stars Allen alongwith Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page.

The film will hit theatres in the US on June 22.
