Ghaziabad: The construction work of proposed Metro link between Ghaziabad New Bus Stand to Dilshad Garden is all set to begin.

A meeting was held between the officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and vice-chairman of Ghaziabad Development Authority, Santosh Kumar Yadav in this regard.

Notably, a 9.7 km long metro rail line will be constructed between Dilshad Garden and New Bus Terminal in Ghaziabad that would cost Rs 1,581 crore. This would be the first metro link connecting the interiors of Ghaziabad. There will be seven stations on this stretch.

After the meeting, Santosh Kumar Yadav informed that we are hopeful to sign the MoU with DMRC in February. Soon after this, the construction of metro line will be started.

Yadav further added that DPR (Detailed Project Report) of the project has already been prepared. The Uttar Pradesh government has also given its nod to the funding pattern of the proposed metro rail link. Hence, the construction work of the ambitious project will begin on time. It is being expected that commuters will avail the Metro link facility from March 2015, he added.

The Uttar Pradesh government in October last year approved Phase-II of the metro rail project which would link Dilshad Garden and New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad. The line will cover Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Stand stations.
