The objective of the CDRRP project is to increase the resilience of coastal communities in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry against a range of hydro-meteorological and geophysical hazards, an official statement said.

Besides, it said, the loan will also help improve project implementation entities' capacity to respond promptly and effectively to an eligible crisis or emergency. The project will have five components including vulnerability reduction, sustainable fisheries and capacity building in disaster risk management.

It is a specific investment loan for a period of 5 years. The implementing agencies are Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of Puducherry, the statement said. The loan agreement was signed by Nilaya Mitash, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs and Onno Ruhl, Country Director, World Bank.
