Lucknow: A high-level team from the World Bank on Thursday visited the Uttar Pradesh capital and took stock of the modernisation process of Lower Ganga Canal irrigation project, which is being financed by it, official said.

At the meeting, state government officials assured the visiting team that the project, funded by the World Bank, would be completed "as per time-table agreed upon between the state and the financier.

"Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Alok Ranjan told the World Bank officials said that the project will be completed according to the time schedule. The UP State Water Structuring Project Phase-II is a Rs.3,000 crore project  scheduled to be implemented in the next seven years and aims at ensuring maximum irrigated area with the available water by modernising lower Ganga canal irrigation system.
