Gopeshwar: A World Bank team visited the Vishnugarh- Pipalkoti hydro–electricity project area in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. The team members held a meeting with the local residents of Hat, Harsari and other villages and listened to their grievances. They also demanded facilities in these villages which were affected due to the project.

At the meeting held in THDC (Tehri Hydro Development Corporation) auditorium, people asked for putting the villages situated on both sides of the river from Helang to Birhi Durgapur in the affected areas list.

They also demanded opening of public schools and hospitals in the area apart from giving 70 percent of jobs to the local residents.

Villagers also asked for insurance for all those villages from where underground tunnel of the project is passing. Among those present on the occasion included Atul Shah, Vijay Malasi, Gajendra Rana including a number of villagers as well as some officials of THDC (Tehri Hydro Development Corporation.)

The World Bank team also visited some villages and collected necessary information.
