Bangladesh posted a respectable total of 156 with the help of Mahmudullah's unbeaten innings of 49 runs. Bowlers gave a decent performance, keeping Australian batsmen uneasy throughout the their run-chase.

However, they failed to take early wickets and that eventually proved to be their undoing. Bangladesh was also let down by fielders on multiple occasions, who kept dropping catches and giving away boundaries.  

62-run first wicket partnership between Watson and Khawaja laid the foundation of Australia's successful run-chase which was accomplished well within 18 overs.  Bangladesh's hopes of reaching semifinals have crashed to ground with this defeat .
