There have been a few upsets, with many big stars failing to deliver on the big stage. In the same vein, a few underrated players who were not even considered to be among the medium rung surprised the cricketing world with their astonishing performances.     

Here, we bring to you such names along with the statistics that proved cricket pundits' calculation wrong. These cricketers have managed to rule the roost in the ongoing World T20.


Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh): Surprisingly, against the expectations, the top scorer in the mega show is not Virat Kohli or any other hard hitter but Bangladesh's Tamim Iqbal. He posted 295 runs in 6 matches at an average of  73.75 and a dashing strike rate of 142.51. This dark horse of WT20 has also slammed a ton against Oman in Dharamshala.

Mohammad Shahzad  (Afghanistan): Mohammad Shahzad, Afghan player of the underrated Afghanistan team stands at on second position with a total score of 222 runs in 7 matches at an average of  31.71. With 61 as his highest score, he left behind many big names with a strike rate of 140.50.

V Kohli (India):
The invincible Virat Kohli is one who lives up to the expectations and rises up to the occasion when it matters most. Emerging as the biggest assaulter on the field in the ongoing World T20, this right-handed batsman is currently standing at the 3rd position on the list, scoring 184 runs in 4 matches with average of 92 and strike rate of 132.37. Kohli played a superlative innings of an unbeaten 82 runs against Australia in a do-or-die match. With the semi-final and final to go, there is every possibility that Virat will emerge as the top-scorer of the tournament.


Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan): This Afghan pacer picked up 12 wickets in 7 matches conceding 164 runs. 4/20 was his best bowling performance in the TW20.  

Rashid Khan (Afghanistan): Along with his teammate Nabi, this Afghan seamer is at the second place on the list with 11 wickets in 7 matches.  3/11 was his best bowling performance.

Shakib Al Hasan(Bangladesh): Surprisingly, the top three wicket takers in the list are from not the regular, or strong teams. Another underrated player, Shakib Al Hasan surprised everyone with his tremendous performance with the ball. The Bangladeshi bowler grabbed 10 wickets in 7 matches with 4/15 best bowling performanc.
