Rumeysa Gelgi received the award in a special presentation in her hometown of Safranbolu, Karabuk. Gelgi said that she liked being different from everyone else. She added that it was interesting and made her feel special.

The teen asserted that it was one of her biggest dreams to be awarded with this record. Gelgi said that it also provided her with easy access to high places and looking down at people from above was not a bad thing either.

Rumeysa is currently in the 11th grade and lives at home with her parents and older siblings - who are all 'normal' height.

World Records Official Representative, Seyda Subasi-Gemici, said that Guinness World Records celebrated diversity and recognized extraordinary people all over the world.
