Here is a list of worst gun battles that left India wounded:

1. Mumbai terror attack (2008): The gun battle that began on November 26 lasted till November 29, killing around 173 people. The city of dreams woke up to a bad day on November 26 as Pakistani terrorists stormed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, The Oberoi Trident, The Taj Mahal Palace, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital and Jewish-owned Nariman House and wreaked havoc. The 59 hours long fight against terrorists was the longest ever anti-terror operations in India.

2. India Parliament attack (2001):  LeT and JeM terrorists created panic as they launched an attack on the Indian Parliament, killing at least people, including gardener. The terror strike took place when both the Houses were adjourned and majority of the MPs were inside the Parliament building. All the infiltrated terrorists were killed.

3. Akshardham Temple attack (2002): This attack left 33 dead and around 80 seriously injured as two militants opened fire in Akshardham Temple, Gujarat. A fierce gun battle that lasted for almost 14 hours came to an end with NSG commandos killing both the terrorist.

4. Gurdaspur attack (2015): Three disguised militants opened fire on a bus and later on Dina Nagar Police Station in Gurdaspur in July last year. The security personnel retaliated with full force  and fought for 11 hours untill all the three militants were gunned down. The Home Ministry stated that the attack was conducted by LeT.

5. Pathankot attack (2016): This will be one of the longest fought gun battles against terrorists in India after Mumbai Taj terror attacks. More than five armed terrorists attacked an Air Force base in Pathankot. The battle is still underway as the security personnel are trying to flush out all the possible terrorists holed up in the air force base. Till now, seven security personnel have been martyred, while five terrorists have been knocked down by the Indian commandos.
