Kolkata: The condition of renowned writer and activist Mahasweta Devi is stated to be stable. She was admitted to SSKM Hospital after sudden illness on Saturday. She then was shifted to nursing home where her condition is stated to be stable.
 
On being informed about her illness, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the author at the nursing home.

The 85-year-old Magsaysay award winner was taken to the state-run SSKM Hospital on Saturday after she complained of uneasiness and nausea. She was later shifted to the private nursing home, where she is undergoing treatment.

The Special Medical Board has been formed for proper and timely medical examination of the author. 

The nursing home said her illness was due to fluctuations in the blood sugar level, which has been brought under control.
