Manu Kumar Jain Head of Xiaomi operation in India took to social networking site Twitter to announce the news.

"In dec, we reached a major milestone - 1 mn phones sold in India! Thank u for your love and support. @MiIndiaOfficial," he tweeted.

Xiaomi has launched three handsets - Mi 3, the Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note in India.

Xiaomi Mi 3:

The Xiaomi Mi 3 runs on a highly tweaked version of Android 4.4 KitKat, called MIUI version 5. It comes with a 5-inch full-HD LCD display (1080x1920 pixels) offering a pixel density of 441ppi. It is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8274AB) processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU.

The device comes with a 16 GB inbuilt storage, however, it  does not provide the expandable memory feature. It is adorned with a 13-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED flash and a 2-megapixel front shooter.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S:

The Redmi 1S is the first phone of the Redmi family available in India. It offers the best quality and user experience and at a very affordable price range. The device offers a great 720p HD screen, an 8MP camera that delivers superfine quality images, great battery life and a range of software features. The dual SIM Redmi 1S features a 4.7-inch display, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory (expandable upto 64 GB), 8MP rear camera and 1.6MP front camera.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G:

Priced at Rs  9,999, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G will have 5.5-inch 720p display and 13 MP rear camera with LED flash. Also, it has 5 MP front snapper and the smartphone will work upon 1.6 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 processor,  2GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G comes with a 3,100 mAh battery and has only one SIM card slot unlike its 3G version which has dual-SIM slot.

Though Xiaomi has been successful in India, it has tough competitions from emerging smartphone companies OnePlus and Yu.
