Few days ago, reports were unsure of the name and model of Xiaomi to-be-launched smartphone at the event in New Delhi. But now, fresh media reports have suggested the model will be Mi 4i as they got hands on the image of the upcoming smartphone.

However, the appearance resembles to be Mi 4 smartphone with a few changes.

According to reports, the smartphone will sport a 1.65GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor backed by a 2GB of RAM, and will run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

However, speculations are rife that the new device might run on Lollipop-based MIUI 7 user interface along with Android Open Kang Project (popularly known as AOKP). AOKP disclosed that Xiaomi and team Kang are working on a new refreshed MIUI 7 that will be based on Lollipop 5.1.

Xiaomi has pulled up its sleeves to host the launch of a new device in India scheduled for April 23.

Xiaomi CEO and founder Lei Jun and president Bin Lin will also be present along with global vice president Hugo Barra at the event.

The company's recent move is enough to indicate that Xiaomi understands the need to strengthen its presence in Indian mobile market. And, probably that's why the company has decided to release the smartphone in India, China may be the second in line.
