Priced at Rs 5,999, the second smartphone from Xiaomi's portfolio was launched in India and was put on sale on Flipkart.    
The Redmi 1S is the first phone of the Redmi family made available in India. It offers the best quality and user experience and at a very affordable price point. The device offers a great 720p HD screen, an 8MP camera that delivers superfine quality images, great battery life and a range of software features.
The dual SIM Redmi 1S features a 4.7-inch display, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory (expandable upto 64 GB), 8MP rear camera and 1.6MP front camera.
Touted as the 'Apple' of China, Xiaomi is one of the latest entrants in the multi-billion Indian smartphone market, following other Chinese firms like Oppo and Gionee.

It’s quite easy to use apps and the functioning it smooth enough. But you should not expect it to operate same when you are multi-tasking. Overall the phone is capable of delivering more than you can expect from a phone at the entry-level segment.


The device sports a 8MP rear camera and 1.6MP front camera. The shooter allows you to record full HD video where most of the other smartphones struggle at this price. It offers it you the additional options like HDR, filters, quick face detection and a zero lag shutter.

Redmi 1S features the same sound technology used by BMW, Bentley, and Rolls Royce. Audio output adapts to the type of headphones you're using to make sure you always get the best possible performance.


Redmi 1S is supported by Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) but it will take some time to get used to if you have already been using an Android smartphone.

Xiaomi has promised that it will update the software to Android 4.4 KitKat, later this year. The Indian version of the phone comes preloaded with Google Play Store and all Google apps including Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Hangouts.
