The two-wheeler manufacturer is likely to launch its unisex scooter at auto expo in February 2014, according to media reports. This new scooter will be in direct competition with Honda’s Activa.

Yamaha had launched its first scooter Ray in India last year at the 2012 Indian auto expo. The product was launched eyeing a large number of women commuters.

However, a few months back Yamaha had recalled 56,082 Ray scooters to replace faulty handlegear. The insufficient strength in its handlegear was said to be the result of poor welding. Realizing the safety concerns of its customers, Yamaha decided to replace the handlebars of the scooters to ward off any chances of untoward incidents.
