Agra: When all the efforts of government went in vain, saints have finally taken up the job of cleansing the drying Yamuna.

Yamuna yatra has already commenced from Agra to Delhi. Apart from saints, a large number of farmers have also taken part in it.

Passing through Mathura, this yatra will reach Delhi on April 15, where campaign will begin for cleansing Yamuna. A panchayat will be set up at Jantar Mantar to raise the issue.

The yatra, which began on March 2 at Sangam in Allahabad, reached Agra on Friday passing through several cities.

A mahapanchayat was held in Agra, which witnessed a congregation of thousands of saints, farmers and all other sections of society. In the Mahapanchayat, it was decided to launch a mass struggle for cleaning Yamuna.

On April 2 Yamuna yatra was set off from Guru Ka Tal Gurudwara at Sikandra Highway to Delhi.

Meanwhile, Bhanu Pratap Singh, National President Bartiya Kisan Union (BKU) and Baba Jai Krishan Das, Convener, Yamuna Bachao Abhiyan were on the forefront of organising the Mahapanchayat.

According to Bhanu Pratap Singh, the yatra will reach Delhi on April 15 after sojourning at Shanidham Temple at Rukanta on Saturday, at Mathura on April 4, at Vrindavan on April 5.
