“Yashwant Sinha may lead the BJP in next Jharkhand Assembly polls,” says Advani.

The visit comes a day after a local court extended Sinha’s judicial custody by 12 more days following the BJP leader’s refusal to submit a bail bond.

Sinha was arrested on June 3 along with 300 party workers for allegedly assaulting a Jharkhand State Electricity Board official over power crisis in the state.

Two emissaries of BJP president and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh - Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Shahnawaz Hussain - had met Sinha and appealed to him to obtain bail.

Sinha, 76, admitted before the media of instructing the party's women activists to tie up JSEB's Hazaribagh branch general manager Dhanesh Jha using a rope.

According to the police, Sinha along with around 300 BJP activists including 50 women, locked office of JSEB’s Hazaribagh unit and staged a sit-in.

Sinha’s son and newly-elected Hazaribagh MP Jayant is staging a sit-in near the collectorate as part of the party’s protest against deteriorating law and order situation and power crisis.
