The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Malik was arrested when he tried to join the Eid prayers at Lal Chowk, as per reports.

Lal Chowk has been blockaded by forces and several limitations have been put in the area.

A JKLF spokesperson told a local daily that the police had put in a seize at night to prevent any plans of holding Eid prayers at Lal Chowk.

The spokesperson reportedly said that the Namaz prayer was proposed by the local shopkeepers and businessmen, who intended to appeal to the international community for help and assistance in the wake of devastation caused in the valley due to recent floods.

According to reports coming, the restrictions have been imposed because of fear of law and security condition in the sensitive area. It is important to note that there has been no precedence of holding Eid prayers at Lal Chowk.

The seperatist group has condemned the state government for arresting Malik.
