Srinagar/Jammu: Supporters of JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik on Friday took to streets demanding his release. Malik was arrested after a scuffle with policemen when his demand of releasing close aid Ashiq Hussain was denied.

Three protesters are reported to have sustained injury in clash with police. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob.
Maisuma areas wore a diserted look as shops and commercial activities remained closed. The violence brought daily lives to a standstill.

In a bid  to create pressure on the state government, Yasin supporters tried to launch rallies in various areas of Srinagar but the administration did not give them permission.

On the other hand, in Bandipora, the chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani made an appeal to people not to indulge in stone pelting and anti-national slogans.
