New Delhi: Taking jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and BJP poll campaign chief Narendra Modi, the Communist Party of India (Marxists) on Monday said that the country doesn’t need them in running the government.

Attending a meeting of four left parties on Monday in New Delhi, CPI (M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury urged all none Congress, none BJP parties to unite and provide an alternative to the UPA government at the Centre in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

As part of efforts to give an alternative to the Congress and the BJP at the Centre, four left parties – CPI (M), CPI, Forward Bloc and Revolutionary Socialist Party - held a national convention.
