Hissar: Collecting stamps of prominent personalities has been a common sight. But, now you can post a picture of yourself on the postcard under the ‘My photo, my stamp’ policy introduced by the postal department at philatelic exhibition ‘Parindey 2012’ held in Gurgaon from February 21 to February 23.

A stall at the exhibition is providing a rare opportunity to the visitors who can get their picture printed on a stamp to be used for postal purpose. And in order to avail the opportunity one has to produce his or her identity card.

The customized picture stamps will cost Rs 300 for 12 tickets with a market value of Rs 5.

Gurgaon Post Office Superintendent Jagdish Chander said, “Such picture stamps are quite popular in foreign countries and has now caught the fantasy of people here.”

He added, “Majority of those availing the rare opportunity are youngsters. While hundreds of them have got their stamps made, bookings have also been done for the tickets which will be prepared by the postal department in some time.”

The postal tickets are based on 12 sun signs, with a photo of the person on one side and his sun sign on the other, he said.

The scheme was launched in World Philatelic Exhibition INDIPEX 2011 last year.
